UK Friends of the Spafford Children’s Center – Christmas newsletter 2018
UNWRA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency) supports 5.3 million Palestinians in the West Bank, Gaza, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria and now faces a $446 million funding shortfall after US funding cuts were announced. It is nearly impossible for any single other organisation, or a collective of organisations, to sufficiently supplement UNWRA’s programmes. The shortfall […]
American Friends of the Spafford Children’s Center – Christmas 2018 newsletter
Horatio Gates Spafford knew tragedy and loss. His four precious daughters perished in a shipwreck; only his wife survived. Drawing strength from his faith he wrote the lyrics for the hymn “It is Well with My Soul” that is often heard in times of mourning and thanksgiving. When peace, like a river, attendeth my way, […]

UK Friends of the Spafford Children’s Center – Christmas newsletter 2017
Earlier this year a grant of $250,000 was promised to the Spafford Children’s Center, unfortunately the agency which promised the money now has a shortfall in funds, and we will only receive $80,000. SCC’s budget is therefore down by approximately $170,000 and our essential work is under threat. We would be so very grateful if […]
EMERGENCY REQUEST FOR FUNDS
A major grant was approved for the Spafford Children’s Center earlier this year, totalling around $250,000 which was to be used for psycho-social and remedial education for troubled children in Jerusalem and Bethany. Unfortunately, the agency which awarded the grant has told us that it is unable to pay the full amount. The Children’s Center […]

As you prepare for Holiday celebrations with family and friends, we hope you include in your thoughts the children and parents served by the Spafford Children’s Center. Please make a contribution to SCC programs that develop the creative skills and sustain the emotional health of children who live all year in a traumatizing environment. In […]

The Fall 2017 newsletter from AFSCC includes a letter of appreciation from a mother who received services and support for herself and her children through the Spafford Children’s Center. Translated from the original Arabic, she shares her feelings and journey of personal growth. We also hear from AFSCC’s new chairperson, The Rev. Matthew Dayton-Welch. AFSCCF Newsletter Fall […]
Announcing the death of Mrs. Mary Frangi

Her warm personality and irrepressible spirit were well known in Jerusalem. She treated generations of children and their families who visited her often to express […]
